Pumpkin Decoration Contest
For Halloween, we held a pumpkin decoration contest for our followers. A survey was sent out to the student body with pictures of all the submissions. The staff and I agreed the contest would be a good way to interact with the community we have created this year as well as build up our follower numbers.
Mascots
We use our mascot, Dale, to promote activities such as the school's annual Market Day. By using Dale, we are able to increase how much the audience engages with us.
Advertising the magazine
The student body had no idea we were about the release a magazine for the first time. To stir up some excitement, I created coming soon posters that were hung up around the school to advertise. When more details are known, updated posters will replace them around the building.
Student Spotlights
Every cycle we post a Student Spotlight. I created a template at the beginning of the year with basic get-to-know-you questions, a spot for a picture and a heading. The staff members simply interview a random student, take a picture of them (they are not allowed to use mugshots) and fill in the blanks.
This way, we have a section of the website where we can feature our students and therefore, draw in more readers.

The Hidden Gems series
Beginning this year, I came up with the idea for a new series. The Hidden Gems series features different places around town that no one knows exist such as the military museum downtown. I send a reporter to do a review on the place in question and include information such as admission prices, operating hours, and a rating. Dale again comes into play in these stories. We rate the places in town with a number of Dale's. One being the worst and five being the best. It is another fun way we are able to include him in our work.
